Washburn Rural has received new textbooks and curriculum for the Integrated Math classes.

Integrated Math 1, 2, and 3 have all received new textbooks and curriculum. This means that almost all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will be affected by the changes. The school is currently evaluating the books, and only some teachers are using the new curriculum now.

The new textbooks feature a sleeker design, and are shorter and lighter than the previous textbooks. Teaching brand new lesson plans on short notice can be difficult for the teachers, and getting into the online textbook has posed a struggle for some classes.

“The difficulties come in the preparation,” math teacher Tricia Vogel said. “It takes time to develop lessons, notes, and homework that align with new materials.”

By the end of the year, the department hopes to have overcome their difficulties and include the new textbooks in all Integrated Math classes.
