On Jan. 11 the Washburn Rural High School Lady Blues basketball team continued their undefeated record beating Topeka West Chargers, 54-22. The team started the game off with a bang. Hitting eight of 12 shots in the opening and finishing the first quarter with a 21-0 lead.

Junior Kasey Hamilton capped off the first quarter with a three pointer and finished the quarter with nine of the 13 points that she would have by the end of the game. All of the Lady Blues starters put points on the board and forced the chargers into seven turnovers.

In the second half senior Carly Bachelor scored 12 of the 21 she scored the entire game. The chargers did not score any points until the second half of game when Gabby Rivera scored with 5:51 seconds on the clock. Overall the Blues did well in throughout their game although there were times when the team was not perfectly in sync

The Chargers opened the second half with a 7-0 run that cut the Rural lead to 34-11 but the Lady Blues never let them get any closer to a lead. Even though this was the case the team never gave up and they added another game to there undefeated record making it 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the Centennial League.
