Cross Country Team Competes in City Meet
October 4, 2018
On Oct. 21, the Cross Country team is traveling to the Shawnee North Community Center for their annual all city meet hosted by Seaman high school.
This meet brings runners from all over Topeka to run to race in these events. The event starts at 9 am and will last until about 11 am.
The city meet is split into two separate races, the boys race and the girls race. Unlike other meets there are no separate races for junior varsity and varsity.
This gives those who usually only race in the JV meets a chance to compete with others they might not have had a chance to during other competitions,
In previous years that Washburn Rural high school has participated in this event, several students have come out on top including Jaybe Shufelberger who was a junior at the time, placed first at the all city meet last year for the girls, and Maxx Bradley who graduated from WRHS last year, placed 3rd during the boys race. The team is hoping for good results again this year as well.
