The Blues Cafe, located at the concession stand in the commons, is open and ready for business. It is a collaborative project by WRHS Food Service and the Business Department.
The Blues Cafe plans to utilize technology in order for students and staff to place their orders. Android and Apple users can download the free Nutrislice App. Once in the app you can search for the district, then choose the high school, and finally choose Blues Cafe. When placing an order you must put it in by 9 p.m. the night before you want the food but you can order farther in advance if you would like to. The app is similar to other sandwich restaurants in that you can pick your bread, meat, toppings, and sauces. After placing one order you can save that sandwich so it will be quicker for you to order next time. Along with the sandwich you will get a bag of chips and a drink for a total of $5, you can use money from your lunch account or cash to pay.

The Blues Cafe will have a tutorial video soon for you to share with students on how to download the NutriSlice APP and place your custom orders. It is a quick, fresh and healthier option for staff and students.

Steps for placing an order

1. Go to the App Store (Apple) or Play Store (Android). It is FREE!

2. Download Nutrislice App (Watermelon Icon).

3. Once downloaded, open and search Auburn Washburn

4. Choose Washburn Rural High School, then Blues Cafe

These settings will be saved the next time you use the APP.

5. Choose date you would like your order. Must place order by 9:00 p.m. the night before.

6. Choose Cold Sub Meal, then build your order!

7. Finalize order in cart.

About the Writer
Emily Burris, Online Editor

Hi! I’m Emily Burris and I am a senior at Washburn Rural High School. This is my third year on the newspaper staff. I am the Online Editor and write for the newspaper staff.  In my free time, I coach and play softball for the Storm Organization. In my free time I like to hang out with friends, listen to music, and watch movies. I love dogs. I have a Chocolate Lab named Max, a Maltipoo named Lily, and a Shih Tzu named Piper. If I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life I would eat Chick-fil-a’s waffle fries with Chick-fil-a sauce. My spirit animal is the koala because like me, they sleep a lot.
